For Parents of Kids in our Program
Dear Parents or Guardians,
Congratulations! You registered your child for the Imaginorium School of Magic & Fun, Aug 2-5, from 9 am- 3 pm. Enclosed is some important information to help make your child’s experience fabulous, magical, and also safe. I know it’s a lot of info, but I’d prefer you have too much rather than not enough.

Where to Go
The camp will be at 505 N. Main St. in Attleboro, MA (Murray UU Church). While it may look like a mundane building on the outside, there will be plenty of magic within. Unfortunately this building is not air conditioned. We will be in a shaded space which is cooler. It is well-ventilated, and we will have large fans and open windows, cool packs and available water. Make sure your children are dressed and prepared for warm weather. Please make sure to officially check your child in at the check-in table before leaving on the first day and turn in the “Emergency Information Form” (attached here - though extras will be available). After the first day they may come in on their own, though they still need to check in each day. If you need to take your child out of camp for an appointment or something during the day, please make sure to check them out so we can track where they are.
What will happen
On Monday morning the magical experience will begin at 9 a.m. Drop off every day begins at 8:30 am. You are welcome to stay with your child Monday morning through the sorting ceremony. Once the group has gathered, the students will be introduced to The Imaginorium and sorted into a multi-age house: PhoenixFire (Hope), WaveRider (Peace), WindHorse (Love) or StoneDragon (Strength). Every effort will be made to take student preferences into account in the sorting, but trust the magic to send them to the right house. Throughout the program they will have opportunities to earn or lose house points as part of our house cup competition.
We try to be fair in our distribution of points and to honor all sorts of positive behavior. All are welcome and valued for who they are and what they bring to the team.
For their classes they will staying together in one small group this year. We have a small number of students, so it is more like a pod of students. They will be moving through a variety of hands-on classes like History of Magic, Potions, and more, learning how to use magic on the Rainbow Path. We have developed a couple of new techniques of positive dueling using antonyms and synonyms, for example.

Students will be learning much more about the original story of The Rainbow Path (possibly more than they already know), and the Wood Between the Worlds will be coming to life. Each student gets three magical tools from Milo’s Armory. At some point they will be offered some challenges and problems to solve.
We will have COSTUME CHALLENGES every day after the first day. I know what the challenges will be already and they fit within the story of the camp, but I do not give out a list of the challenges in advance because the goal is creativity. Students are not supposed to ask for you to purchase ANYTHING for the challenges but to be creative with things they already have. The challenges are also entirely optional, but they will help us reach our goals. I like to say it’s a bit like Spirit Week x10.
In the late afternoon, students will have a “free choice” period in the Wood Between the Worlds. They also have the option to make and adapt their costuming at Kiki’s Boutique. Finally, we will introduce a new creative game - Rainbow 8-Ball. We will come back together for a closing each day.
At 3 p.m. each day, parents should pick students up from the same place. If you write on the forms that you wish to sign your child in and out each day, then you must come in personally to do so. Otherwise, your child may check out on their own and find you outside. A staff member will watch to make sure all kids connect with parents.

Food
EACH CHILD MUST BRING THEIR OWN LUNCH AND SNACKS!!! Due to allergies, please do not send peanut butter or tree nuts. We do not have space to refrigerate lunches, so please send your children with simple bag lunches that do not require refrigeration or microwaves. We will have water available. Please have them bring their own water bottle. We will have time set aside for snacks in both the morning and afternoon, but for safety’s sake, we are not asking for or providing communal snacks. Please send your child with at least two snacks.
Covid-19 Safety
Since all of the students in this age group are eligible for COVID-19 vaccination, please list your vaccination status to attend this program. We would also like to see a recent negative COVID-19 test. If you are not able to get a PCR test, we can have you take a home test when you arrive.
As part of our commitment to each other, we will ask each student and staff member to sign and abide by this Covid Safety Agreement, modeled after one created by Murray UU Church, the site we are renting. I believe at this time masks are optional. We will go over it in person each day as well. Every day we will hold each other accountable. We’re in this together.

Safety & Behavior Guidelines
Each child must also sign the behavior agreement at the end of this letter before attending our program. We want this experience to be fun, but safety is also very important. We provide our staff with a consistent discipline method to use in dealing with children who behave in a disruptive or dangerous manner in the classroom. No physical discipline or verbal abuse by teachers is permitted. We list the consequences for breaking the behavior agreement on the form. Only in extreme cases would we call the parent or guardian, but you must be available by phone in case of this or an emergency.
If you need to contact your child during the day, please call or text the Deputy Headmistress at (508)243-6446. If you need to leave a message, this phone will be checked every half hour throughout the day, so someone will get back to you as soon as possible.
We will be playing active games. We have several staff members trained in First Aid, and we will make every effort to ensure the safety of your children, but should an accident occur, we would contact you immediately. There will be a quiet space for children who need to separate from the larger group.
PLEASE NO SICK KIDS! (Not just COVID-19) If your child is vomiting or has a fever, please wait 24 hours before sending them back to camp.

Butter-Fly Portal
Students may receive notes of encouragement via our new ButterFly Portal throughout the week. (This is a unique messaging system on the Rainbow Path). Click here to print a note you could have delivered to your child. Just write in your words and leave it with us when you check in on Monday (or any day) or put it in the butterfly mailbox. Paper copies are also available for you to fill out on site. Please make sure to mark your child’s full name. Deliveries will be spaced throughout the week. Praise and encouragement from parents are fundamental parts of healthy child development. You may also use your own stationary for ButterFly Wishes.
Thanks for reading! I will send updates as needed by E-mail. We also have a couple of fun contests coming up that I hope your kids will want to participate in. Let me know if you have any questions.
